The Return of Color
2023 is where everything comes together. Color returns — but this time with a confidence and ambition that makes the 2011 experiments feel like warm-up exercises. The mandala pieces are the centerpiece of this era: massive, symmetrical compositions built around a central circle and radiating outward with layer after layer of pattern, each section a different texture but all working in a bold palette of orange, red, and blue that practically vibrates off the page. The structural thinking from 2022 is still here, but now it's supercharged with color and scale, resulting in pieces that feel genuinely monumental. The green and purple piece introduces a whole new palette and shows that the color choices are anything but accidental — each combination is deliberate and striking. And running alongside the color work is some of the most densely detailed black and white line work yet, proving that after fifteen-plus years, both sides of the practice are stronger than ever.
